A door-to-door luggage service for Southampton cruises

Hampshire Taxi's cruise luggage delivery is a luggage-only service for people sailing from Southampton, sometimes called a cruise luggage transfer or a cruise baggage service. A driver collects your cases from your address on the day you sail, carries them to the port, and meets you at the bag drop of your cruise terminal at the time you choose. You then hand the cases to the terminal porters exactly as you would if you had brought them yourself, and they go to your cabin in the usual way.

The price is fixed by the number of bags: £44.99 for one bag, £79.99 for two, £109.99 for three and £139.99 for four, one way. Booking both ways, to the ship and home again, costs from £84.99. It is a price per booking, not per person, and it is the same for every terminal.

Because we are a local Hampshire operator, your luggage is never sent days ahead or held in a depot. It is collected and delivered on the same day, by one driver, and each bag is scanned at every handover so you can follow it on your phone.

How cruise luggage delivery works

Your luggage arrives when you do. Our driver meets you in person at both ends, so your bags are never out of sight of you or the driver.

  1. Step 1

    Book and get your price

Enter your postcode and the number of bags. The price is fixed straight away and you receive a tracking link and a 4-digit luggage code.

  2. Step 2

    We collect from your door

On sailing day our driver comes to your address, weighs each bag, adds a numbered label and scans it.

  3. Step 3

We meet you at the terminal

The driver brings the bags to your cruise terminal's bag drop at the time you chose. You give your code and hand the bags to the porters as usual.

  4. Step 4

    Home again after the cruise

With a return booking, the driver meets you outside the terminal when you come off the ship and delivers the bags to your address the same day.

What happens at the terminal on sailing day

At Southampton the luggage drop is outside each terminal building. Porters, who are port staff and not cruise line crew, take labelled cases at the kerb before you go inside to check in and pass security. The luggage drop usually opens late in the morning, and cases handed over there are delivered to cabins during the afternoon.

Our driver times the journey to reach that bag drop when you do. You show your 4-digit luggage code, the driver scans each bag, and you pass the bags to the porter. From then on your luggage is in the normal embarkation system, with your cruise line's label showing your name and cabin.

What happens when your ship returns

On the last morning you collect your cases in the terminal baggage hall as usual and walk out with them. Our driver is waiting outside the terminal at the time you gave us. Each bag is scanned, and the driver takes them to your Hampshire address the same day.

That leaves you free to take the train from Southampton Central, meet family for lunch, or spend a few hours in the city with only hand luggage. Someone needs to be at the address to receive the bags and give the luggage code.

Same-day luggage delivery, or sending luggage ahead?

There are two kinds of cruise luggage service in the UK. National luggage couriers ship cases from anywhere in the country and take them days before the sailing. A local service like ours moves them on the day itself. This is how they compare.

Hampshire Taxi (same day)National luggage couriers

If you live outside Hampshire, or you want your cases taken away a week early, a national courier is the right choice. If you live in or are staying in Hampshire and would rather pack the night before and see your luggage handed over yourself, the same-day service suits you better.

Who uses a cruise luggage service?

Cruise passengers who travel to Southampton by train or coach, or who are dropped off by family in a small car, often have more suitcases than they can manage. Sending the bags by door-to-door driver means you carry only hand luggage on the journey and meet your cases at the terminal.

It also helps anyone who finds lifting difficult, families with pushchairs, and passengers on long sailings with formal wear. On the way home, hand the bags to our driver outside the terminal and go for lunch in Southampton, or straight to the station, without them.

Luggage collection from Southampton hotels

Many passengers arrive the day before and stay in a Southampton hotel. We collect from hotels, guest houses and holiday lets anywhere in our Hampshire area in the same way as from a home: book with the hotel's address and postcode, meet the driver in reception on sailing day with your luggage code, and meet your cases again at the terminal.

This is useful for visitors from overseas and from other parts of the UK, because the service itself only collects inside Hampshire. If you are flying in, our Heathrow to Southampton cruise port taxi carries you and your luggage together.

What you can send

Guide to the Southampton cruise terminals

Cruise line luggage limits at Southampton

Our limit is 23 kg per bag for every booking. That matches the per-case limit of the lines that set one. The cruise lines' own published guidance is:

Cruise lineIts luggage guidance
P&O CruisesNo limit on the number of cases; each case must weigh less than 23 kg.
CunardEach piece of luggage no more than 23 kg (50 lb).
MSC CruisesTwo suitcases per person, up to 23 kg each.
Royal CaribbeanNo fixed weight or number; a reasonable amount of luggage.
Princess CruisesNo luggage or weight limit set by the cruise line.
Celebrity CruisesUp to 90 kg (200 lb) of luggage per guest in total.

Checked in October 2026. Cruise lines change their rules, so confirm the allowance in your own cruise documents. P&O Cruises and Cunard both say a case over 23 kg may have to be repacked at the terminal, which is why our driver weighs each bag at your door.

Cancelling or changing a luggage booking

Plans change, so the terms are simple and the same for every booking.

On the day, the driver waits 15 minutes at your address. If nobody is there, or a bag is over 23 kg and cannot be made lighter, the journey counts as cancelled on the day. To cancel or change a booking, call or WhatsApp +44 7300 024843.

Why luggage matters at the UK's busiest cruise port

Southampton welcomed about 3 million cruise passengers in 2025. The port's terminal operator, Solent Stevedores, reported handling 3.3 million pieces of luggage for passengers on 449 ship calls in that year. On a busy day several ships turn around at once, and the roads to Dock Gate 4 and Dock Gate 10 fill with passengers arriving at the same time.

Getting heavy cases through that on a train, a coach or in a small car is the hardest part of many passengers' journey. A luggage service removes it: the cases travel by road with a local driver who knows the terminals, and you travel light.

Cruise luggage delivery questions

How much does cruise luggage delivery to Southampton cost?

One bag one way costs £44.99, two bags £79.99, three £109.99 and four £139.99. Both ways (to the ship and back home) costs £84.99 for one bag, £154.99 for two, £224.99 for three and £279.99 for four. Outer Hampshire postcodes add £10.00 per booking. The price is fixed when you book.

How does the luggage service work on sailing day?

Our driver collects your labelled bags from your Hampshire address on the day you sail, drives them to your cruise terminal in Southampton and meets you at the bag drop at the time you chose. You hand the bags to the terminal porters yourself, as you would if you had carried them, and they go to your cabin in the usual way.

Is my luggage delivered to my cabin?

Your bags reach your cabin the same way as every other passenger's: the terminal porters take them at the bag drop and they are delivered to your cabin during the afternoon. Our driver brings the bags to the bag drop and meets you there; we do not go on board the ship.

How is this different from sending luggage ahead with a courier?

National luggage couriers usually collect your cases several working days before you sail and return them several days after the cruise. We are a local Hampshire service: your bags are collected on sailing day, never go into a depot, and come home the same day your ship returns. You keep your clothes until the day you leave.

Which Southampton cruise terminals do you deliver luggage to?

All five: City Cruise Terminal, Ocean Cruise Terminal, Mayflower Cruise Terminal, QEII Cruise Terminal and Horizon Cruise Terminal. Your terminal is shown on your cruise documents; tell us which one when you book.

Where do you collect cruise luggage from?

From addresses across Hampshire: Southampton, Eastleigh, Hedge End, Totton, Hythe, Romsey, Winchester, Fareham, Gosport, Portsmouth, Havant, Lymington and the New Forest at the standard price, and Basingstoke, Andover, Aldershot, Farnborough, Fleet, Alton, Petersfield, Ringwood and New Milton with the outer Hampshire surcharge. Enter your postcode on the booking page to check.

Can you collect luggage from a Southampton hotel?

Yes. If you are staying in a hotel, guest house or holiday let in our Hampshire collection area before your cruise, book with its address and postcode. The driver meets you there on sailing day, so you can walk, take the train or see the city without your cases, and meet them again at the terminal.

How heavy can each bag be?

Each bag can weigh up to 23 kg, the same limit P&O Cruises and Cunard set for each case at Southampton. The driver weighs every bag at collection. A booking can have up to 8 bags; the fifth bag onwards costs £30.00 each one way or £55.00 each both ways.

How do I know my bags are safe?

Every bag gets its own numbered label and is scanned each time it changes hands, so you can follow each bag on your tracking page. Bags are only handed over when you give the driver your 4-digit luggage code, and they are never left unattended or stored overnight: the driver meets you in person at the terminal and at your door.

Can you bring my luggage home after the cruise?

Yes. Book the return, or both ways. When you come off the ship with your bags, our driver meets you outside your terminal, scans each bag and delivers them to your Hampshire address the same day, so you can travel home without them.

Is there luggage storage at the Southampton cruise terminals?

No. The cruise terminals do not store luggage for passengers, and Southampton Central station has no left-luggage lockers. If you want time in the city after your cruise, our return service takes your cases to your Hampshire address the same day while you carry only hand luggage.

How far ahead do I need to book?

Book at least 48 hours before your first journey and the booking is confirmed straight away. Closer than that, you can still book online and our office checks that a driver is free before confirming.

Can I cancel my cruise luggage booking?

Yes. Cancelling 48 hours or more before your first journey is free and anything you have paid is refunded in full. Between 48 and 12 hours before, 50% of the price is charged, and inside 12 hours the full price. If your cruise line cancels the sailing there is no charge. To cancel, call or WhatsApp +44 7300 024843.

What happens if my cruise terminal changes?

Cruise lines sometimes move a ship to a different Southampton terminal. Tell us as soon as you know and we update your booking to the new terminal at no charge; the price is the same for all five terminals.

Do I travel with the luggage driver?

No, this service carries luggage only. If you would also like to be driven to the port, book a taxi to the Southampton cruise terminal with us and your bags travel in the car with you at no extra charge.

Do I still need my cruise line's luggage labels?

Yes. Please attach your cruise line's own labels, with your name and cabin number, before we collect. Our label is added next to them and is only for tracking the bag while it is with us.

Can I ship luggage to a Southampton cruise ship from outside Hampshire or from abroad?

Not with this service: we collect only from addresses in Hampshire. Passengers arriving from elsewhere in the UK or from overseas can use it from a Southampton or Hampshire hotel before sailing, or book one of our airport-to-cruise-port taxis, where luggage travels with you in the car.

Ready to send your luggage to the ship?

It takes about two minutes. Your price is fixed before you book.
