Southampton Cruise Port to Stansted Airport taxi & cruise transfer — fixed fare from £247, door-to-door, 24/7.
Direct, fixed-fare Southampton cruise port to Stansted taxi — we collect you from your ship's cruise terminal after your cruise and deliver you to Stansted with time to check in. No meter, no surge.
A Southampton cruise port to Stansted taxi covers around 130 miles and takes about 2 hours 30 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes in normal traffic. Whether you're flying home straight after a Cunard, P&O, MSC or Royal Caribbean sailing, we quote a single fixed fare before you book and hold to it regardless of traffic.
Your driver for Stansted meets you dockside at the correct cruise terminal, helps with your luggage and tracks your ship's berthing time — so if your ship docks late we move the pickup with it at no extra cost. Choose from saloon, estate and executive cars, MPVs and 8-seater minibuses for cruise families and groups, with the first child seat free on request.
Stansted is the furthest of the London airports from the docks and sits north-east of London in Essex, so the journey goes right round the capital: the M27 and M3 to the M25, then the M11 north-east to the airport. Because the M25 decides most of the journey time, we plan the pickup generously rather than tightly.
Stansted has a single terminal, so there is no terminal to choose — the driver takes you to the departures forecourt, and any airport drop-off charge is itemised in your quote before you confirm.
Stansted sits in Essex, north-east of London, about 130 miles from Southampton's docks. No motorway runs directly between the two, so every journey goes round London on the M25 before turning north up the M11 — roughly 2 hours 30 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes in normal traffic, and the longest of our cruise-port airport runs.
Passengers choose it anyway because of the flights. Stansted is Ryanair's biggest UK base, with a wide spread of short-haul routes to Ireland and mainland Europe that the other London airports do not always match — so after a cruise it is often the cheapest, or the only direct, way home to a European city.
The distance changes how you should plan the day. A Heathrow or Gatwick flight in late morning is realistic after an early walk-off; from Stansted it usually is not. The planner below shows why.
A planning guide, not a promise: it assumes the drive takes about 2 hours 45 minutes including the drop-off, and that you want to be at the terminal 2 hours before a short-haul flight. Allow more on Fridays, bank holidays and summer weekends.
| Off the ship by | At Stansted around | Earliest short-haul flight we would book | Who this suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| 07:30 | 10:15 | From about 12:15 | Self-disembarking passengers carrying their own luggage off the ship |
| 09:00 | 11:45 | From about 13:45 | A typical luggage-group departure on a busy turnaround morning |
| 10:30 | 13:15 | From about 15:15 | Late luggage groups, or anyone who wants a relaxed breakfast on board |
If your flight is earlier than this, tell us when you book — sometimes an earlier walk-off or a different flight is the safer choice, and we would rather say so than have you miss it.
What each option involves with cruise luggage. Train times depend on connections across London — check National Rail for your date.
| Option | Journey time | Changes | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hampshire Taxi (fixed fare) | About 2½–2¾ hours, dock to departures | None | £247 for the car, up to 4 passengers; met at the terminal, cases loaded for you, dropped at the Stansted departures forecourt |
| Train via London | Usually 3 to 3½ hours | Two or more | A taxi or bus to Southampton Central, a train to London Waterloo, the Underground across London to Liverpool Street, then the Stansted Express (48 minutes) |
For one person travelling light, the train is cheaper. For two or more people with cruise cases, the fixed car fare shared between you is often close to the combined train tickets — without carrying luggage across London.
On this route the M25 between junction 12 (where the M3 joins) and junction 27 (the M11) sets the journey time far more than the miles do. It is the section most likely to slow down, and there is no quick way round it.
That is why our timings for Stansted are more generous than for Heathrow or Gatwick. If we suggest an earlier pickup than you expected, the M25 is the reason.
The planner above shows that a morning flight from Stansted rarely works on disembarkation day. These are the three ways our passengers solve it.
The fare from any of the five Southampton cruise terminals to Stansted Airport is from £247 for an Economy saloon with up to 4 passengers, and £455 for the 8-seater minibus with up to 8. It is a price for the car, so four people sharing a saloon pay about £62 each for a journey of two and a half hours with no changes.
The price includes the first 30 minutes of waiting at the cruise terminal and the airport's drop-off charge. If the ship berths late we move the pickup with it and nothing is added. You can also add a stop on the way; the booking form adds the extra distance to the price before you pay.
Cruise luggage usually decides the car. An Economy saloon takes two large cases, the Estate four, the MPV five and the 8-seater eight, with a seat for everyone as well. The full price for each car is in the fare table on this page.
