Fixed-price taxi from Southampton cruise port to Manchester — about 230 miles and 4 hours 20 minutes door to door. Your driver meets you dockside at the City, Ocean, Mayflower, QEII or Horizon terminal when your luggage group is called, and the fare is fixed when you book.

Manchester is our longest cruise-port run. It suits passengers going home to the north-west with a lot of luggage, or families who would rather not change trains with cruise cases.

The route takes the M27 and M3, the A34 and M40, then the M42 and M6 north, leaving the M6 for the M56 into Manchester.

At around four hours, this is a journey to plan around your disembarkation time: leave the ship mid-morning and you are home in the afternoon. Piccadilly station and most city-centre hotels are on the east side of the centre; Salford Quays and MediaCity are to the west.

A big ship empties in a single morning, and the taxi rank empties with it. With a driver booked ahead you walk out of the terminal to a named car instead of a queue — leave the dock at 10:00 and you should be in Manchester at about 14:20.
